Grant money to attend the CPM National Conference

CPM announced the 2012 National Conference in the September newsletter.  It will be in Louisville, Kentucky, June 27 – 30  Register and find more information at www.cpm.org/conference.

NCTM has announced grants through the Mathematics Education Trust that can support your attendance!  On the cover of a recent NCTM publication: Summing Up was the announcement,  
“Apply Now for MET’s Winter Cycle of Grants” at www.nctm.org/met


From the website:  The purpose of this grant is to support professional development to improve the competence in the teaching of mathematics of one or more classroom teachers*. For 2012–2013, grants of a maximum of $3,000 will be awarded to person(s) currently teaching at either grades 6 – 8 or 9–12 level. The proposal must delineate the teacher(s)’ professional development plan and address how the proposed project will improve the teacher(s)’ competence and impact students’ learning.

Applications are due Nov. 1 and must be spent between June 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013.

Applicants must be an NCTM member. Recipients must have three or more years of teaching experience in the specified grades.
(*The definition of a classroom teacher is an individual who spends half or more of his/her work time teaching in the classroom.)
