Teaching Tip #4

September 25, 2011

This week is a good week to do a self-evaluation in class. Have students evaluate their participation in their teams, their use of team roles, their commitment to understanding the homework, and/or their overall level of understanding of the course concepts so far. This could be a good way to have students reflect on their work so far in your class, give you some feedback of how they are feeling about the course and their work in teams, and remind them of your expectations in and out of the classroom. Anyone out there have a good self evaluation document to share?

You could also do an activity that would create a class list of what to do when you are stuck on a problem. This chart can then be a resource for students so they remember to do things like ask each other, look in the book, re-read the problem…in addition to asking the teacher for help. This poster could go up with the poster of what to do when you complete a problem. These 2 posters would then support you as you differentiate your lessons to meet all students needs!!!!!! (see last weeks blog for adding depth questions ideas
